After the recent prolonged cold spell as I'm sure we are all aware the roads are in a bit of a state Crying or Very sad

I have been out and about in the 5 over the last few days for the first unbroken run of a few days in this car for quite a while. This has given me the opportunity to appreciate and where possible dodge the damaged areas.

There are plenty of areas where the damage is minimal; typically where when the road has been repaired/replaced that the top has been planed off and a decent layer of tar put down and also the edges sealed.

Where the damage appears to be worst seems to be either where utilities have been digging and provided sub standard reinstatement or where the 'cheap' road fix of spray and grit has been used. Dyce drive is an example of what happens when this goes wrong Evil or Very Mad

Anyone else observing the same pattern?

Yes, Dyce Drive is definitely in a state, but has been since before the recent bad weather.

I always find it pretty disgraceful that the 1 road in the City that all visitors arriving by air will see is so rutted and full of holes.

I've a good mind to plant things in 'em on my way home from work one night. Smile

Did Aberdeen City lose a load of money in the Icelandic Bank collapse? It was obvious before this round of ice and snow (and the one we had this time last year) that they had been skimping on road repairs.

<shakes fist>

I came back from visiting a friend in Alloa on Saturday, there are some quite big chunks out of the M90 in Fife so its probably not just tight North Easterners having road problems.

Being an Alloa person, I can confirm our roads are in a pretty bad state, been using the 5 for a few days, and am now on personal terms with every pot hole between Alloa and Falkirk

Roads around Shotts - Newmains - Airdrie are in a shocking state as well. And so far i've only seen the main roads, i wonder what i'm going to find when i get onto the wee backroads Sad
