went to arnold clark in stirling re this 'claim' (the car requires an mot and a service so there was work coming their way) and got a young lady who listened and , i felt , was about to be positive re the claim when her next door nieghbour at the desk said no and pointed out that this was only done at the customers request..... ok I said I was the customer and I was requesting it replaced as it was a know fault, simple logic on my part.

a positive NO was the reply. now at this point he had just blown arnold clark out of the water in repect of the 200.00 ~+ service and mot and any future work in the next 10 years , this is how long i plan to keep the car.
now I could have dangled that carrott in front of him but for me people have to be seen willing before I feed them.

I have written to the Service manager and to MAZDA but I know nothing will come of it.
as far as the mod is concerned a first class dealer is supplying me with the hose for postage price as a gesture of gooodwill but he would rather I did not name him as it may cause a dealer problem(he has intimated at this time dealers should be pushing for work rather than sticking two fingers up at a potencial cash customer. he would have done it free but that would have meant a 560 mile round trip)
as a short gap I bled the heater as per the instructions and I am at present
treating my feet for second degree burns from my HEATER as it used to.

I thank , AGAIN, all the S,F'S who give so much helpful information

yes did it a couple of nights ago . was in checking the oil and as i was under the bonnet i change it took all of 8 mins a piece of cake

read the instructions about bleeding, no need to as i took of the old pipe fitted the new one and as no water came out of the old hose it was not a problem however just in case i was a tw** i fitted the heater end first then filled the hose with an antifeeze mix and then connected the tank end.
there is absolutely no reason to do this, but i did.

still no reply from arnold clarke, well doesnt matter he doesn't need my cash and they aint getting my future work

thanks for your help.

Thanks Gerry - thought myself that the pipe would be empty since it is above the level of fluid in the tank. I guess when the new pipe bend fills with fluid it prevents air coming through. Of interest, i had to give the dealer the Mazda Service Bulletin so they could get the part number for the pipe.

i do not have a great deal of faith in main dealers at all ( i may be wrong only my humble opinion) my last car an mgf with a honda type r tuned engine was a problem the mg dealers didnt want to touch it as it had a 'HONDA ENGINE' and honda wouldnt touch it as it was a 'BRIT CAR' so none of them touched it as i had great people who 'DID FOR ME'
was up your way on sunday though doune, strathyre, crianlarich and onto THE DROVERS for lunch of scotch broath and breadand butter pudding ( on two seperate plates) , been going there since the 60's then back thro balloch and stirling. great run no cars going in our direction, never over 60 well nearly never, got about 40 mpg acording to the scan gauge.
top down most of it ( mrs was with me and had to be nice to her as i was charging fuel and entertaiment fees, usual things, music petshopboys and go west , yass the only way is up and others . she was allowed to have the heater on at 3/4 (told her i was trying to reduce my cabron footprint but she could buy some more but she declined) she ate bangers and mash at the drovers was able to charge extra for gravey and ice for the appletiser.
all in all a great day ~( and quite profitable say some)

car washed and back sleeping till the next paying passenger, oh i love this life mx5 nc and other people paying , glad i am old and weak and poor and people feel sorry for me.
now i wonder if a charity would adopt me and give a petrol allowance??????
